RESPOND THEIR GREETINGS BY YOURS

 Wa-alaikum as-salam wa-rahamathu allahi wa-barakathuhu

  Word by word meaning : "tarjuma" .

Wa : and 

Alaikum : upon you

Assalam : peace 

         Wa alaikum as Salam: Peace be upon you 

Wa : and 

Rahamat : mercy

Allahi : Allah

Wa : and 

Barakathuhu : blessings

        Wa rahamathu allahi wa barakathuhu : and blessings and mercy of Allah

Usage :

       if someone greets us with "assalamu alaikum" (peace be upon you) , we might greet us with the same motive as "wa alaikum as salam" 

Rewards :

     It will gain them and you the mercy of  Allah at the scales on the day of judgement

        How simple the islam is even by saying a word can also give us rewards and gain mercy on us .

        It's just not mercy ,Muslims are frequently use these "sunnahs " upon the unknowns too ,here come to know that love is boundless in islam by working for unknown's  deeds too .

                         Small sunnah's will weigh heavy on the scale ⚖ .
